ERODE MUNICIPALITY WHY ELECTRIC CREMATORIUM IS NEEDED OR ESSENTIAL v Traditional of burning the bodies are time consuming and environmental polluting practices. v The way we are disposal off the bodies of our kith and kin is not giving any personal satisfaction in way of honoring and paying last respects. v Electric crematoriums are established in near by towns such as Tiruppur, Karur, Coimbatore and Pollachi and received public appreciation and is widely used by the common people. v It is now essential to cater the needs of the people of Erode and surrounding areas and to maintain an eco friendly environment for the welfare of the people. For Example: The existing burning ground of 7.85 Acre area now become reduced to about 1.60 Acre area will not be sufficient for the increasing population. DETAILS ABOUT EXISTING ELECTRIC CREMATORIUM SITE v The site is situated near Arulmigu Soliswarar Sundarambigai Temple at the bank of the River Cauvery, like the Creamatorium ground situated at the bank of River Ganges in the Holy city of KASI . v Situated in the Cauvery Road adjacent to Erode Pallipalayam Highway Road. v It is situated in T.S.No.8/2,8/3,8/4 Chinna Agraharam Village Erode District at an extent of about 1 Acre 40.05 cent area. v Total area of about 55.5 cents of lane in T.S.No.8/4 has been gifted by Mr.S.K.Balasundaram and 88.25 cents of land in T.S.No.8/2 has been gifted by Mr. A.Muthusamy to Municipality for Electric Crematorium. v Electric Crematorium will have a total land of about 1 Acre 40.50 cents including municipal land 47 cents. Water supply & Electricity 7.54 Lakhs Total 177.98 Lakhs MUNICIPAL CONTRIBUTION MLA Erode has allotted 10 Lakhs from the MLA Local area development fund 2005-2006 for construction of meditation hall. Administrative schemes accorded as per letter Na.Ka.No.6505/2004/A3 Dated: 16.06.2005 by the District Collector. Additional amount of Rs. 10 Lakhs allotted from the Municipal general fund as per the Muncipal council resolution No. 306 Dated:22.06.06. All the works are now in progress. CONDITIONS Conditions imposed in the Government Order 1. Trust is permitted to maintain the crematorium for 10 years . It required the lease period may be extended for 3 more years. 2. It extension required more than 10 years, 3 Months advance notices to be send to municipality. So as to forward it to the Government. 3. If is is required to be hand over the maintenance back to the Municipality, this should be done at any time duty the period of maintenance. 4. Any construction in the site to carried out with the prenous permission of the Municipality. 5. All structures to be constructed as per the plan approved by the Municipality 6. All constructions to be completed with in 10 months of the permission given for the project. 7. The site to be used for the Crematorium purpose only. 8. Un landful activities should not be allowed. 9. The site should be used for the assigned purpose only 10. Light and sound effect arrangements should be provided. 11. The rules to be framed as and when regarding the use of the site to be accepted by the trust. 12. Minimum period of 10 years maintenance either be increased (or) decreased by the Municipality. This will be accepted by the trust. 13. If the Trust wants to ferminck the agreement. It must give 1 year prior notice to the Municipality 14. The Collected amount to be remitted to the Municipal treasury periodically. 15. If the agreement fermented before 10 years all the machineries installed to be handed over to the Municipality. 16. If anything stolen (or) damaged in the sole responsibility of the trust. 17. Chimneys to be made as prescribed by the pollution control board. 18. If any permission required to be obtained from TNPCB, the trust is responsible for obtaing the same. 19. Office for the Municipal workers to be proved by trust. 20. Accounts to be audited every year not below the rank of chartered Accountant. And also accounts to be by the Local Fund Auditor. 21. Administrative Committee: ELECTRIC CREMETORIUM TRUST Managing Trustee President Municipal Chairman Vice President Municipal Commissioner Secretary Municipal Engineer Member Town Planning Officer Member Municipal Vice Chairman Member Electric Crematorium Secretary Member Councilor of the Ward Member 22. Amount foxed by the committee alone to be collected for cremation of the bodies. This will be and revised by the committees periodically electricity and water supply expenses to be borne by the trust. 23. It is to be used by all people without bias for any caste (or) creed. 24. 20% of the amount collected for cremation to be remitted to the Municipality. 25. Gardening maintenance of the garden, supervision and construction of compound wall to be carried out by the Trust. 26. No Objection Certificate from TNPCB to be obtained by the Trust. 27. Thatched roof (or) any other materials easily catched by five should not be used. 28. All legal dispute if arising out of cremation if any to be the responsibility of the Trust 29. Agreement incorporating all the above conditions top be executed by the Trust with the Municipality. 30. If any of the conditions mentioned above violated the agreement will be cancelled at any point of time. The fees to be collected for cremation of a body is fixed as Rs.500/-
